If I only could read the others mind! It certainly was written all over their faces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">\u201cLet it go!\u201d \u201cNot again!\u201d \u201cGive it a break!\u201d \u201cHow is this going to help?\u201d \u201cWhat an \u2026.!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>\u201cThe chains of habit are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite><strong>Bertrand Russell<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">One the most damaging habits a manager or colleague can have is \u2018digging in the dirt\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Yes, bringing up the past! Over and Over again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">Good managers who want to grow and improve their team building skills, can incorporate some habit changes that will make a huge difference in their leadership:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>\u201cFocus on the solution not the problem.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite><strong>Jim Rohn<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul type=\"1\" class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Learn to deal with the issue or behaviour <\/strong>in a clear and direct manner – once.\u00a0 The only thing that should ever be brought up is praise and acknowledgment of the change in behaviour and performance.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>\u201cThe past should be left in the past, otherwise it can destroy your future. Live for what tomorrow has to offer not what yesterday has taken away.\u201d <\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite><strong>Unknown<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Learn where and when to vent.<\/strong><ul><li>If you are an external processor, never vent in front of the team.\u00a0 I understand the need to talk it out so find someone else who can listen without judgement.\u00a0 Trust me, it will be the best thing that you ever do.\u00a0 I always had someone in Human Resources who would lend an ear.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>If you are an internal processor, take a short walk, leave the room, get a coffee, juice, or water.\u00a0 Let the emotions settle before taking the next step.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Never vent in public.\u00a0 Doing this in a social setting or on social media will damage your good reputation and that of your organization.\u00a0 Keep your reputation strong by learning to vent in places that are safe.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>\u201cWe must learn to listen to what is being said and not hear what we want to hear.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><cite><strong>Ronda Gales<\/strong><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Learn to listen<\/strong>. There is always something to learn and sometimes your staff will solve the issue by themselves.\u00a0<ul><li>Stop thinking of your reply. I learned this early in my career. When I\u2019m thinking about what I am going to say I don\u2019t hear what my colleague says. Stop the mind and listen \u2013 then answer.<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Leave space. I know, silence in a conversation is uncomfortable. All of us feel the need to fill in the space. But let it happen! A moment of silence helps heads cool and helps you formulate a response that reflects your personal management style.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">We will face challenges.
